This was from my very first time of seeing a coati in the wild. I had been in Panama a few weeks and had seen some in captivity, but the free ones still eluded me. Then Ms. Wendy Burton took me to the Boquete Visitor Center, assuring that I wouldn't be disappointed. Wow! She was definitely right! Turns out that around 4pm of each day they are fed. I instantly went from this charismatic cousin of the raccoon being on my bucket list, to having at least seventy of them at arm's length. It was an ultimate way for this wildlife artist to receive the greeting, "Welcome to Boquete."
