"American Icon" - Bison

The reference photo for this painting was taken in North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Bison always hold me in awe, and this particular one was truly magnificent. The duality of intent with this piece, was not only to proudly portray my country's National Mammal, but also echo ancient cave paintings as well as numerous Native American renderings. This lead to emphasizing the stocky muscular torso of the beast, basically amplifying his presence overall. These elements along with powerfull colors portray my rendition of this "American Icon".
